Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about studying in Germany, admission, student visas and blocked accounts.
General
Yes. Sri Lankan students with recognised qualifications can apply to German universities and, once admitted, apply for a German student visa.
We support you from your first consultation through program selection, applications, blocked account, health insurance and the visa process, up to pre-departure.
Costs & Funding
Most public universities charge no tuition fees for Bachelor and consecutive Master programs. You still pay a semester contribution and your own living costs.
Language
Not for English-taught programs, which usually require IELTS or TOEFL. German-taught programs require German, usually at B2 to C1 level. Basic German helps with daily life either way.
Admission
Most programs start in the Winter semester (October), and many also have a Summer semester intake (April). Application deadlines are usually several months before the start date.
Blocked Account
A German bank account where you deposit the amount required to cover your first year of living costs. It is the most common proof of finances for the student visa.
Student Visa
It varies by season and embassy workload. Getting an appointment can take time, so we recommend starting as soon as you have your admission letter.
Life in Germany
Yes. International students can work part-time within legal limits. Many students work on or off campus alongside their studies.
