Language requirements
English-taught programs
Usually require IELTS or TOEFL. The minimum score depends on the university and program.
German-taught programs
Usually require German at B2 to C1 level, e.g. TestDaF, DSH or Goethe certificate.
Blocked account
A blocked account (Sperrkonto) is the most common way to prove you can cover your living costs in Germany. You deposit the amount set by the German government for one year, and can then withdraw a fixed monthly amount after you arrive.
[Confirm the current required amount before publishing.]
Health insurance
You need travel health insurance for your visa application and arrival, and health insurance as a student once you enrol at your university. We explain the options and help you choose.
